What I Think.

Last Tuesday, I thought the editing and reading over peoples DSS was a great idea. It definetly wasnt a waste of time and Im glad that Schirmer split the class in half so we would be able to focus more on a few people. I got a lot of great feedback on my rough draft and thought that everyone else did a great job on their papers. At first i was a little bit nervouse of what to expect when coming into class that day but then when we got started reading and editing peoples papers i felt good about mine and I got a lot more ideas on what i wanted to include into my paper before i hand in my Final.

Our days are numbered in this class and i think that it was a great opportunity and experience. At first i was a little scared coming into this class not knowing what to expect and also hearing about the idea of twitter and posting blogs, until i got used to it and it wasnt that bad. Now tonight im going to re read over my paper and make sure that everything is correct and ready to turn in tomorrow. Ive been really busy this weekend, homework has been heavy on me, but I finally managed to get this assignment done.

Blogging

Well, all finished with my PK presentation, I hope that i do a good job on it. Been working on it all weekend. It seems like a lot of things are moving fast also, when the teacher gives you a date that something needs to be done by, I've learned not to procrastinte, start working on the project right when you get it and gather all types of information because that due date is going to be coming up very fast even if it seems far away. Actual Atricles due around the 30th I think, and im going to get working on that today after my presentation. Already have a nice idea of what im going to be doing and I hope that it all works out for the best.

I really hope that i do well net week on my PK presentation, im really nervous and unsure on what im going to put together. Everyone else had pretty nice rpesentations looks like they were all well thought out and everyone knew what they was going to do. I need to brainstorm some more today and put something together this weekend. I know that I will be able to pass this and get a good grade and come out with a nice presentation.

GONNA BE WORKING ON MY PROECT THIS WEEKEND. SETTING ASIDE A LOT OF TIME TO GET IT DONE SO I CAN RELAX AND GET RID OF ALL THIS STRESS. COLLEGE IS VERY STRESSFUL BUT IM POSITIVE THAT I CAN PULL THROUGH AND PASS ALL OF MY CLASSES. WORKING HARD FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS IT WILL PAY OFF LATER, I KNOW IT.

MASHUP PART 2

For my Mash-up assignment. I simply went to the U of M library and got onto Mirlyn, where I looked up numerous amounts of articles dealing with my profession, until I ran across "Stress" I found many interesting articles on stress and figured that thats what I wanted to do a Mash-up about. I found  articles on stress and read through them all, next I did a brainstorm on what I wanted to put into my essay and went through the articles one by one and highlighted what I wanted to include into my Mash-up assignment essay. I took certain highlighted information (the inportant things) from all of the 5 articles, and mashed them together and sort of made them into one big essay. I made sure every paragraph flowed and went together and made since. Then after hours of going over my essay again and again to make sure everything was correct and how I wanted it. I then color coded the information and made sure I cited my work in a special / unique way. Which was copying and pasting the articles that I used and highlighting them in the color that I used for each one in my Mash-up essay. One article that I used, couldent be copid and pasted on a Microsoft Word document, so I had to cite regularly where I got the article from and provided a link ..it was the last article in (green).

  • I think that Mash-up should most definitely be allowed and used more often because it is an interesting way of writing and it is very creative, it sort of allows people to think outside of the box for a change and shows others a different perspective on writing.
  • Plagiarism however is bad and should not be used, unless things like (Mash-up) is an assignment for a person. One should always cite their work and where they got it from, so in a way, Mash-up isn't really (plagiarism) because if you cited your articles then you should be fine.
  • I looked at a few of my peers Mash-ups and i really thought that they did a good job for the most part, some were very interesting, and some people chose the basic route just to get the assignment done. But I figured that I would take the more interesting route, Mash-up is a great way to test your creativity and kind of get your brain working a little harder or in a different way that it is usually used.

My long day.

Trying to think of something interesting and fun to do with my Mashup assignment. But right now im drawing a blank. Sitting in a quiet room without many distractions would be much better for me right now so i could get this done, but unfortunetly there are a lot of voices around me in this computer lab. But other than that, im about to get started. My day has been going pretty well, i set aside this day for "school work only" and i dont want any distractions while im trying to work. I have a lot to get done, plenty things need to be accomplished before the week ends so im setting today aside to do those things. Went to my medical career foundations class, and went to Hurley Hosiptal this moring and did clinicals, now that thats over its time to focus on this ENG 112 work that needs to be done. Keeping a positive attitude :)

My Future Dreams

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always knew what I wanted to do in the future. After many years of people asking me over and over what do I want to be when I grow up, and the answer was always the same. I wanted to become a Veterinarian. Ever since I was little I loved playing with animals, I thought that they were cute. My brother and mom would always tease me because I thought that all animals were cute, such as a skunk and they would also ask me what was wrong with me because they thought that skunks were ugly and nasty. But I thought that all animals were cute in their own kind of way, no matter what they were.

Later in life, my family soon adopted two dogs by the names of Bear and Max. Max was a miniature schnauzer and Bear was a black lab. Both of these dogs were great pets and I loved to play with them and take care of them. Having these dogs for years made my love grow even deeper for animals. Soon I made up my mind that being a Veterinarian was what I really wanted to do and I was going to do whatever I had to do to become one. My mother also loves animals but she likes dogs the most. I don’t think that there is anyone who loves animals more than I do, or at least I haven’t met anyone yet that does.

People think of Veterinarians as people who love animals, and they are right because to be a vet, you have to really love animals and want to help them. I think that if someone doesn’t love their job and what they do, then the job is definitely not for them and they should try and find something to better suit them. The ones who don’t care for animals won’t do well in the field because they would dread coming to work every day and the animals most definitely won’t get the care that they would need.

Since I love animals so much, I recently took in a stray cat that had been making a home in my front yard. I decided to keep her. She recently had a liter of 3, and the kittens are all adorable. Sometimes I wish that I could just help every animal in the world and bring them food and shelter, but then again that would be absolutely impossible. The only possible thing I could do to fulfill my wish would be becoming a veterinarian so that I could at least help as many animals as I can.

One movie that I love and also motivated me, was Dr. Doolittle. Dr. Doolittle was a great veterinarian movie; it was a comedy that stared Eddie Murphy. In the movie he had to save a circus bears life and teach him to survive in the wild. It was very interesting, and it was nice to see how happy the bear was at the end of the film. The movie gave me a little insight on what Veterinarians really have to do and how its done.

Right now I am taking health and science classes, to work towards my goal of the 4 years of college that I will need to become a vet. I also will have another 4 years of medical school that I will need to attend. I’m very determined and motivated. I know that I can achieve my goal with a bit of hard work and an optimistic view. My father always told me that I could be anything that I wanted to be, and those words will travel with me for the rest of my life.
