MASHUP PART 2

For my Mash-up assignment. I simply went to the U of M library and got onto Mirlyn, where I looked up numerous amounts of articles dealing with my profession, until I ran across "Stress" I found many interesting articles on stress and figured that thats what I wanted to do a Mash-up about. I found  articles on stress and read through them all, next I did a brainstorm on what I wanted to put into my essay and went through the articles one by one and highlighted what I wanted to include into my Mash-up assignment essay. I took certain highlighted information (the inportant things) from all of the 5 articles, and mashed them together and sort of made them into one big essay. I made sure every paragraph flowed and went together and made since. Then after hours of going over my essay again and again to make sure everything was correct and how I wanted it. I then color coded the information and made sure I cited my work in a special / unique way. Which was copying and pasting the articles that I used and highlighting them in the color that I used for each one in my Mash-up essay. One article that I used, couldent be copid and pasted on a Microsoft Word document, so I had to cite regularly where I got the article from and provided a link ..it was the last article in (green).

  • I think that Mash-up should most definitely be allowed and used more often because it is an interesting way of writing and it is very creative, it sort of allows people to think outside of the box for a change and shows others a different perspective on writing.
  • Plagiarism however is bad and should not be used, unless things like (Mash-up) is an assignment for a person. One should always cite their work and where they got it from, so in a way, Mash-up isn't really (plagiarism) because if you cited your articles then you should be fine.
  • I looked at a few of my peers Mash-ups and i really thought that they did a good job for the most part, some were very interesting, and some people chose the basic route just to get the assignment done. But I figured that I would take the more interesting route, Mash-up is a great way to test your creativity and kind of get your brain working a little harder or in a different way that it is usually used.
